Thurs. Feb. 17th, Herbert Martin, a 85 year old jazz musician that still plays in jazz clubs in the Detroit area, and I were the featured presenters at McCann Worldwide a marketing company in Birmingham MI. We were invited to speak and in my case show and talk about my work, because the company was celebrating Black History Month. The Harlem Fine Arts Show was a great experience. There were some internationally known artists there. There were also some celebrities there. S Epatha Merkerson came by my booth and spoke to us about her Chicago show, Chicago Med. She was very down to earth and friendly. In the booth right next to mine was Antonio L. Davis. He paints with his mouth and did excellent work. He is wheel bound and has limited use of his arms.I met a lot of artists and I enjoyed the camaraderie and the sharing that most artists there freely expressed. Overall, the show was a big success and I will be going to the Fine Art shows in the future.
I was so proud to have my Mosaic “Coltrane In A Mello Mood” as the Featured Image at the Chicago Jazz Festival 2016 for the programs and T-shirts. Here are some pictures from that great weekend of Jazz and Art. Known for its artistic creativity, the Chicago Jazz Festival is a favorite Labor Day Weekend tradition. It promotes awareness and appreciation for all forms of jazz through free, quality live musical performance. Since 1979, the festival’s mission is to showcase Chicago’s vast jazz talent alongside national and international artists to encourage and educate a jazz audience of all ages.
Make plans to stop by and see some of my new works at the 2016 The Hyde Park Jazz Festival in Chicago Illinois. This is great opportunity for you to see my new Dizzy Gillespie Mosaic our one of my other Jazzy Mosaics.
